Tonight’s the LIGHT Night!
Lightsabers, lava-lamps, roaming puppets, tie-dye body paint and a LED catwalk show are just some of the events organised for this year’s Light Night (it is their tenth birthday after all) taking place in the city tonight.
The full programme for the Robin Hood Energy-sponsored event is available online here or you can pick one up at the Tourism Centre at the Council House, and features a wide range of mainly free activities so you can save your pennies for some tasty nosh at the Secret Burger Club (which makes its Nottingham debut at the festival).
Here’s everything you need to know – including the full list of events taking place.
When is it and when does it start?
It’s today! Friday, February 10 from 3pm until 11pm and is part of Festival of Science and Curiosity!
Where is it?
Where isn’t it more like? Around 50 venues are taking part and stuff is going on ALL OVER the city as is evident from this nifty Google Map with all the venues marked.
New this year will be a LED catwalk show at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm outside Hugo Boss on Bridlesmith Gate, in celebration of the upcoming Nottingham in Fashion event on Friday 24 and Saturday 25 March. The Arboretum will be transformed into “a garden of delights” with installations and roaming puppets and visitors will be able to take a candle-lit tour of the William Booth Birthplace Museum.
In the Old Market Square the Wheel of Nottingham will be turned into the Wheel of Light with a special illuminations show using 75,000 light bulbs.
There will be free entry to Nottingham Castle and Brewhouse Yard – and Sneinton Market will be having a steampunk makeover. Plus, citizens are invited to post their Light Night pictures on the website to be in with a chance of winning a prize – click here for details.
